Simply put, the Administration Ministry exists to support and facilitate ministry. As with any organization, there are significant details to be worked through, planned for, and implemented each and every day. The Administration Ministry exists to serve the detailed needs of all the ministries of Ovilla Road Baptist Church in order to execute our mission: Love God. Love People. Proclaim the Gospel.
Consider this helpful description of the spiritual gift of administration:
The gift of administration is the God-given ability to give direction and make decisions on behalf of others that result in efficient operation and accomplishment of goals. Administration includes the ability to organize people, things, information, finances, etc. Often the mark of an administrator is the ability to accomplish things in a "fitting and orderly way" (1 Corinthians 14:40).
Our Administrative Pastor, Doug Connell, also serves on the administrative team of our private education ministry, Ovilla Christian School. He formerly served overseas for 5 years, running a small coffee factory in Central Asia, where he developed administrative/business skills, under the coaching of a number of mentors. Doug enjoys working behind-the-scenes to serve those who are out front, and is grateful for the opportunity to develop other leaders at our church and school.
Doug reports directly to ORBC's Senior Pastor, Drew Erickson, and works alongside the Headmaster of Ovilla Christian, Dr. Derward Richardson. He is also accountable to the elders at the church, as well as the OCS School Board. He directly supervises and is responsible for the following support staff (in alphabetical order, by department):
- Facilities: Mr. Dan Pickerill (Facilities Director)
- Finance: Ms. Camille Galbraith (Financial Secretary, OCS) and Ms. Corey Acton (Financial Assistant, ORBC)
- Information Technology: Mr. Ron Hale (IT Director, OCS)
