OCTOBER 27, 2016
"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.
This week we continue our sermon series through Psalm 23, “Forevermore.” Check out the series video here:
This week we are looking at Psalm 23:2 and seeing that finding our identity begins with resting in the finished work of Christ.
Our Call to Worship is Psalm 146:7b-10:
The Lord sets the prisoners free;
the Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down;
the Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord watches over the sojourners;
he upholds the widow and the fatherless,
but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.
The Lord will reign forever,
your God, O Zion, to all generations.
Praise the Lord!
We chose this Psalm because it proclaims the vast and strong love of God. We see God is near the brokenhearted, the hurt, and the weary working in their lives to heal and bring them to praise him.
Read Psalm 146:7b-10 and ask God to:
Give us a renewing and restful Sunday together as a church.
See how Christ’s work, not our hurts, sins, or failures, is what gives us our identities.
Here are the songs we are singing this Sunday. We chose these songs because they help us remember the work of Christ, see our new identities in him, and anticipate him making all things new at his return.
