Getting Ready for Sunday, July 24

JULY 21, 2016

Church family,

"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.

This Sunday we’ll be continuing our sermon series in John by looking at John 20:11-28. We will see that in the resurrection, the sorrow of death was forever shattered by the joyous reality that it is defeated once and for all.

Our call to worship is Matthew 11:28-30: "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” As you read it, see how God offers rest without condition. See how God draws us close to Him so we can learn freedom and peace from Him. As you read it pray that God would:

  1. Refresh our church with a deep experience of His love and grace this Sunday.
  2. Pray that God would draw your unbelieving neighbors, family, and coworkers into faith in Him.

Here’s last week's sermon in case you missed it:

How the Resurrection Changes Everything
John 20:1-10

Here are the songs we are singing this week. Listen to them to prepare for our gathered worship. We chose to sing these songs this week because they rejoice in the truth that God has saved us to freedom and growth in Him. These songs remind us of the central hope of the gospel, that Christ has saved us from all our sin apart from our works!
