JANUARY 12, 2017
"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.
This week we are beginning our new sermon series: 1st and 2nd Samuel: A Man After God’s Heart. Check out the sermon series bumper here:
This week we are looking at 1 Samuel 8 and 13 and seeing how God trains his servants to have his heart.
Our Call to Worship is Psalm 78:1-4:
Give ear, O my people, to my teaching;
incline your ears to the words of my mouth!
I will open my mouth in a parable;
I will utter dark sayings from of old,
things that we have heard and known,
that our fathers have told us.
We will not hide them from their children,
but tell to the coming generation
the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might,
and the wonders that he has done.
God calls us to grow in our worship of him as he guides and grows us through his word. His glory, character, and steadfast love to his people are our hope and comfort in all of life. In his mercy and love he has used his word and his people to draw us to him and make us his own.
Read Psalm 78:1-4 and pray that God would:
Stir in our hearts a desire to hear and obey his word.
Pray that many generations would come to know him as savior.
Here are the songs we are singing this week. We chose these songs because they remind us of how perfect and complete Christ’s grace is and they help us express our love and gratitude for Christ’s work on our behalf.
