OCTOBER 5, 2017
"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.
This week we are continuing our sermon series “Multiply: a Journey Through the Book of Acts.”
This week we are looking at how in the wake up tragedy the gospel is the only hope for a world that feels hopeless and is wasting away.
The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is sure,
making wise the simple;
the precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes;
the fear of the Lord is clean,
the rules of the Lord are true,
and righteous altogether.
Psalm 19 tells us how God promises to move and work in our hearts when we place ourselves under his word. He promises to revive, make us wise, rejoice our hearts, and enlighten our eyes. God calls us to worship him in this passage by looking to him and his word to revive and teach our hearts. We worship God when we look to him alone for wisdom, healing, and understanding. Let’s gather expectantly this Sunday around this great hope.
Read Psalm 19:7-9 and pray that God would:
Revive and teach our hearts this Sunday.
Bring people (pray for them by name) to faith in Christ.
Here are the songs we are singing this week. We chose these songs because they remind us that God is near us working in our lives and they proclaim the truth that sin, death, and evil have been defeated by Christ.
