Getting Ready for Sunday

MAY 18, 2017

Church family,

"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.

This week we are beginning our series through the Psalms “Ascribe.”

In this series, we are  looking at specific characteristics and

This week we are looking at Psalm 1 and seeing how following Christ in righteousness leads to our joy and flourishing.

Our Call to Worship is Psalm 1:1-3

Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.

In Psalm 1 we see how intentional and good God is in leading us in his righteousness and planting us near his streams of provision. God calls us to worship him by responding to him with obedience. Following God in righteousness leads us to delight and joy, because God’s will is always for our good and his glory.

Read  Psalm 1:1-3 and pray that God would:

  1. Give us desire to follow him in every area of our lives.

  2. Give us deep joy in following him.

Here are the songs we are singing this week. We chose these songs because they tell the story of God’s saving work for us and call us to rejoice in the hope we have in Christ.
