JUNE 22, 2017
"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.
This week we are continuing our series through the Psalms “Ascribe.”
This week we are looking at Psalm 63 and seeing how Christ satisfies.
Our Call to Worship is Psalm 63:1-4.
O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
beholding your power and glory.
Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
So I will bless you as long as I live;
in your name I will lift up my hands.
We come to God with needs and hurts and the Lord sees them. He goes beyond what we can do, and heals and changes us. He satisfies the deepest parts of us. In His work, we are freed from anxiety, depression, and slavery to status, image, and perfectionism. In turn, He gives us a home. He is our safe place. In Him, we are free from the world that beckons and we find fullness of joy
Read Psalm 63 and pray that God would:
1. Give us a deep experience of the goodness of the gospel.
2. Bring people to faith who are trying to find refuge in something other than him.
Here are the songs we are singing this week. We chose these songs because they remind us of the faithfulness of God and how he truly satisfies.
We’re singing our new song Only You Can Satisfy (Psalm 63) this week. Check it out here:
