JUNE 29, 2017
Church family,
"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.
This week we are continuing our series through the Psalms “Ascribe.”
This week we are looking at Psalm 92 and seeing how God calls us to be faithful and fruitful witnesses.
Our Call to Worship is Psalm 92:1-4.
It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to sing praises to your name, O Most High;
to declare your steadfast love in the morning,
and your faithfulness by night,
to the music of the lute and the harp,
to the melody of the lyre.
For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work;
at the works of your hands I sing for joy.
Why is it good to give thanks and praise God? We give thanks because the work of God makes us glad in him. Our worship is a gift from Christ. Its results from his work and outpouring of love to us. Our worship isn’t something we do to earn God’s love or favor, but something we do because God has given us his favor through Christ. God’s steadfast love calls us to worship him with joy and praise!
Read Psalm 92 and pray that God would:
1. Help us remember the goodness of the gospel.
2. Grow our hearts to be more like Christ.
Here are the songs we are singing this week. We chose these songs because they remind us of the great work of Christ and help us respond in thankfulness and joy.
