FEBRUARY 1, 2017
"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.
This week we continue our sermon series “Multiply: a Journey Through the Book of Acts.” We’ll be looking at Acts 12:6-19 and seeing how God gives his church his presence, power, and grace.
Our Call to Worship is Psalm 111:1-2.
Praise the Lord!
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart,
in the company of the upright, in the congregation.
Great are the works of the Lord,
studied by all who delight in them.
In Psalm 111, we are reminded that God calls us to worship him with our whole hearts and minds because we delight in the works of the Lord. The fuel for our thankfulness and study is the deep satisfaction we find in what Christ has done. The gospel of Christ should motivate us to praise God and study his word. We are motivated, not by a need to prove or earn, but because we have been given abundant joy in Christ. As we gather to worship together this Sunday, let’s gather ready to delight in the gospel of Christ.
Read Psalm 111:1-2 and:
Pray that God would fill our hearts with delight in him.
Pray that God would fill our minds with awe at who he is.
Here are the songs we are singing this week. We are singing these songs because they teach us the greatness of God and help us express our trust in his past, present, and future work.
