MAY 24, 2017
"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.
This week we are looking at 2 Corinthians 8:1-7 and seeing how we are blessed to know, show, and grow in God’s grace.
Our Call to Worship is Romans 8:15-17.
For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
What a gift it is to be considered God’s family. It is a gift given to us at great cost, earned through Christ’s death and resurrection. It is a gift that God continually gives to us as he sustains and empowers us to love one another in a way that truly glorifies God. This Spirit-confirmed identity, that we are his children should give us great peace and confidence as we follow him. Let’s gather ready to worship as his children- fully forgiven and loved by our Abba father.
Pray that we would know God as our loving father.
Pray that we would seek to glorify him in everything we do.
Here are the songs we are singing this week. We are singing these songs because they proclaim the gift of God’s grace.
