JUNE 7, 2017
"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.
This week we are looking at Acts 18:5-12 and seeing the powerful response that the good news of Jesus inspires.
Our Call to Worship is 1 Peter 1:3-4:
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.
The hope of the gospel is a real, present hope. It's not just a hope that looks to the future when we will be reunited to Christ and he will make all things new. The gospel is not just a ticket into heaven; it is the way we have already been drawn into a reconciled relationship with Jesus. We have been born again as new creations! We are right now his children and he is at work among us. Let's gather together this Sunday ready to proclaim to one another the living hope we have in Christ.
Read and 1 Peter 1:3-4:
Pray that we would know that God is with us.
Pray that we would grow in living out the gospel in every area of our lives.
Here are the songs we are singing this week. We are singing these songs because they rehearse the gospel story and call us to proclaim the good news of Jesus.
