AUGUST 16, 2017
"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.
This week we are looking at Acts 27:1–28:31 and seeing how God keeps his promises, and how we should trust him and give thanks as we continue his mission.
Our Call to Worship is Psalm 147:3-5.
He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.
He determines the number of the stars;
he gives to all of them their names.
Great is our Lord, and abundant in power;
his understanding is beyond measure.
God’s word speaks to us no matter where we are in life; whether we are brokenhearted or content, worn out or rejoicing. God is speaking and working in all of our lives calling us to further satisfaction and obedience in him. If we are hurting, God draws near to us to heal us. If we are stuck in self-sufficiency, God draws our eyes up to him to be humbled by the one who really holds everything together. As we gather this Sunday let us be aware of our need for God to speak into our lives and be ready to hear and obey.
Thank God that he desires to speak in to our lives.
Pray that we would hear and obey what God speaks.
Here are the songs we are singing this week. We chose these songs because they exalt the faithfulness of God and call us to follow him on mission.
