AUGUST 29, 2017

Church family,

"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.

This week we are looking at Judges 1:1-2:5 and seeing how God has called us to live as faithful followers of Christ in an unfaithful world.

Our Call to Worship is Psalm 16:8-9:

I have set the Lord always before me;
Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices;
my flesh also dwells secure.

The faithfulness of the Lord replaces our fear with joy. Psalm 16 promises that God is at our right hand as a picture of covenant faithfulness. Because of this we don’t have to fear being shaken by an ever changing world. Instead we can live with joy because we live within the constant faithfulness of God. Let’s gather together this Sunday to set the Lord before us and respond in the joy that comes from his faithfulness.

Read Psalm 16:8-9 and:

  1. Thank God that he is always faithful, even when we are not.

  2. Pray that we would follow him faithfully with the joy he gives.

Here are the songs we are singing this week. We chose these songs because they center us in the faithfulness of Christ.
