OCTOBER 20, 2016
"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.
This week we begin our sermon series through Psalm 23, “Forevermore.” Check out the series video here:
This week we are looking at Psalm 23:1 and seeing that our good shepherd, Jesus, is stronger and greater than anything we fear.
Our Call to Worship is Psalm 56:3-4:
When I am afraid,
I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can man do to me?
We chose this Psalm because it reminds us to fight our fear by looking to God and his word. Only God is strong and good enough to conquer and heal our fears and insecurities. It calls us to worship God whenever we are afraid by trusting in his care for us.
Read Psalm 56:3-4 and ask God to:
Give us a renewing and restful Sunday together as a church.
Lead us to more deeply trust his word and will in our lives.
Here are the songs we are singing this Sunday. We chose these songs because they remind us of God’s perfect and loving care for us. They draw our attention away from our fears and to the greatness of God.
Here is last week's sermon in case you missed it:
