NOVEMBER 3, 2016
"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.
This week we continue our sermon series through Psalm 23, “Forevermore.” Check out the series video here:
This week we are looking at Psalm 23:3 and seeing that Christ restores those who are cast down and caught in sin.
Our Call to Worship is Psalm 98:1-3:
"Oh sing to the Lord a new song,
for he has done marvelous things!
His right hand and his holy arm
have worked salvation for him.
The Lord has made known his salvation;
he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations.
He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness
to the house of Israel.
All the ends of the earth have seen
the salvation of our God."
This Psalm calls us to worship God by drawing our attention to the “marvelous things” he has done for us because of his “steadfast love and faithfulness”. This Psalm reminds us that we worship God through prayer and obedience as a response to his love shown to us through Christ. Christ alone is the source and object of our worship!
Read Psalm 98:1-3 and ask God to:
Remind us of specific ways he has been faithful to us.
Restore and renew us from sin, suffering, and hurt.
Here are the songs we are singing this Sunday. We chose these songs because they center our lives in the sovereign rule of Christ. They call us to completely trust his powerful work in our hearts and our world.
In Your Steadfast Love
