Getting Ready for Sunday, August 7

AUGUST 4, 2016

Church family,

"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.

This Sunday we’ll be continuing our sermon series in John by looking at John 21:15-25. We will see how beneath Peter’s sin of of denying Jesus was a dangerous self confidence. Then, we will see how he was graciously brought by Christ to a real level of repentance to ensure he had learned the lesson from his failure.

Our call to worship is Psalm 85:8-9:

8 Let me hear what God the Lord will speak,
    for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints;
    but let them not turn back to folly.
9 Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him,
    that glory may dwell in our land.

As you prepare to worship with the church pray:

  1. God would give you desire and anticipation to hear God speak to you this Sunday.
  2. We would grow in Christlikeness as a church.

Here are the songs we will be singing this Sunday. Listen to them beforehand to prepare for our gathered worship. We chose these songs because they remind and teach us of God’s forgiveness and unending faithfulness. These songs also call us to proclaim the good news and healing of Christ to those who need it.
