Getting Ready for Sunday, September 18

SEPTEMBER 15, 2016

Church family,

"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.

This Sunday we are continuing our new fall sermon series “To the One Who Conquers”. Check out our series preview video here:

This Sunday we are looking at Revelation 3:1-6 and seeing how God calls His church to remain vigilantly awake by pursuing His will in the world.

Our Call to Worship is Psalm 138:1-3, 7-8:

I give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing your praise; I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word. On the day I called, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand delivers me. The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.

We are using this psalm as our call to worship because it helps us remember to look to the greatness of God for our strength and relief. It calls us to praise Him for His steadfast love and constant faithfulness.

Read it before our gathering this Sunday and ask God to:

  1. Help you see His greatness and goodness.
  2. Draw us to trust His steadfast love and faithfulness.
