NOVEMBER 2, 2017
"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.
This week we are continuing our sermon series “Multiply: a Journey Through the Book of Acts.”
This week we are looking at Acts 8:26-40 and seeing how God uses his word to call and empower us for mission.
Our Call to Worship is Psalm 107:35-36, 43.
He turns a desert into pools of water,
a parched land into springs of water.
And there he lets the hungry dwell,
and they establish a city to live in;
Whoever is wise, let him attend to these things;
let them consider the steadfast love of the Lord.
Whether we are worn down or bursting with energy, we all still have a deep need. What we need most is a deep awareness and experience of God’s presence with us. His presence refreshes us, grows us in holiness, and leads us on his mission. God calls us to worship him not by earning his presence, but by receiving it as the free gift that it is. The gospel is the good new that the dividing wall of our sin has been broken down and we are no longer separated from God. Let’s worship together this Sunday with a joyful hunger, knowing God has given us his presence through Christ.
Read and pray Psalm 107:35-36, 43 that God would:
Give us a deep awareness and experience of his life giving presence.
Bring people (pray for them by name) to faith in Christ.
Here are the songs we are singing this week. We chose them because they confess our need for Christ and rejoice in his faithfulness to give us all we need.
Here is last week's sermon in case you missed it.
