JUNE 15, 2017
"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.
This week we are continuing our series through the Psalms “Ascribe.”
This week we are looking at Psalm 73 and seeing that when we are tempted to compare ourselves to others and view life as unfair God calls us to find our fulfillment in him.
Our Call to Worship is Psalm 73:28.
But for me it is good to be near God;
I have made the Lord God my refuge,
that I may tell of all your works.
God calls us to worship him by looking to him alone for our refuge and joy. God is most exalted when we find our joy and delight in him. While we are tempted to find refuge in rest, work, family, friends, wealth, and status, only God can provide us true peace and reconciliation through Christ. As we gather to worship, we gather to remind one another of how good it is to be near God, finding all we need in him.
Read Psalm 73:28 and pray that God would:
1. Give us a deep experience of the truth that it is good to be near him.
2. Bring people to faith who are trying to find refuge in something other than him.
Here are the songs we are singing this week. We chose these songs because they remind us of the goodness of God and his presence and call us to desire him alone.
We’re singing our new song Behold (Psalm 24) this week. Check it out here:
Here is last week's sermon in case you missed it.
