Getting Ready for Sunday, March 18

MARCH 15, 2017

Church family,

"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.

This week we continue our sermon series “Multiply: a Journey Through the Book of Acts.” We’ll be looking at Acts 15:36-16:5 and seeing how Jesus offers hope that our relationships can be characterized by things like humility, gentleness, patience, edifying honesty, peace, forgiveness, compassion, and love.

Our Call to Worship is Hebrews 1:1-3.

Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

No matter what our weeks have been like, whether good, bad, or in-between, the very best thing for us to do is to look to Jesus together. When we look to Jesus we see a God who graciously and consistently reveals himself to us. We see a God more glorious than any other idol, better than any other love, and more powerful than any sin, death, or evil. No matter where our mind and hearts are, God calls us to worship him by looking to Jesus and rejoicing in the reign of Christ our king.

Read Hebrews 1:1-3  and:

  1. Pray that we would see Jesus as glorious and gracious.

  2. Pray that we would desire that others would experience the grace of Christ.

Here are the songs we are singing this week. We are singing them because they help us rejoice in the truth of who Christ is and what he has done.
