MARCH 8, 2017
"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.
This week we continue our sermon series “Multiply: a Journey Through the Book of Acts.” We’ll be looking at Acts 15 and seeing the all-sufficient grace of Christ in the gospel.
Our Call to Worship is John 1:14,16-17.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.
For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
John 1 shows us through Christ, what God’s grace is. It shows us that because Christ is gracious, he did not make us earn or find our way to him, instead he came to us. It shows that Christ did not demand or need anything from us in order to earn our grace but instead gives us “grace upon grace” out of his fullness. God calls us to worship from a place of settled rest and joy as we trust that our identities and destinies are graciously given to us by Christ.
Read John 1:14,16-17 and:
Pray that we would joyfully rest in the grace of Christ.
Pray that we would desire that others would experience the grace of Christ.
Here are the songs we are singing this week. We are singing them because they teach us about God’s grace and help us express our gratefulness and trust to Christ.
