APRIL 19, 2017
"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.
This week we continue our sermon series “Multiply: a Journey Through the Book of Acts.” We’ll be looking at Acts 17:10-15 and seeing how God calls us to follow his word in all of life.
Our Call to Worship is 1 John 5:20.
And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
When we gather to worship God, we first gather to listen to God. Our worship is not primarily about what we say to God (though it is important) but what God says to us through his word. 1 John 5:20 tells us that God gives us understanding of who he is and who we are through Jesus. As we listen to the word, we grow more and more in the knowledge of who God is and who we are. This passage calls us to worship God by being still and listening to who he is and growing in the identity that he has given us. Let’s gather together this Sunday eager to be refreshed and renewed by God as he speaks to us.
Pray that we would be ready to hear and obey what God says through his word.
Pray that we would grow in our God-given identities.
Here are the songs we are singing this week. We are singing these songs because they remind us to look to God as our source of truth and security.
