JUNE 28, 2017
"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.
This week we are looking at Acts 19:7-12 and seeing how God uses the church to grow us in gospel-hope.
Our Call to Worship is Colossians 1:17-18:
And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.
From beginning to end, top to bottom, throughout the whole life of the church God’s desire is that we would be glorifying our King Jesus. Our work, homes, friendships, marriages, neighborhoods all exist, not first for our happiness, but for the glory of Jesus to be displayed to the world. We gather together every Sunday to be reminded of this truth and to have God shape us together so that more and more of his glory shines through our lives into the world. To do this we have to have our hearts fixed in the character of Jesus and have our eyes drawn in awe and wonder to the King who “holds everything together.” Let’s gather ready to look to Jesus in awe and wonder, ready to follow him in trust and obedience.
Pray that we would be in awe of who Christ is.
Pray that we would grow in our trust of Jesus as the one who really does hold all things together.
Here are the songs we are singing this week. We are singing these songs because they speak to the character of Christ and the living hope we have in the gospel.
