JULY 12, 2017
"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.
This week we are looking at Acts 21:1-17 and seeing how we are called to trust and obey Christ in all circumstances as we follow him on mission.
Our Call to Worship is Psalm 85:8-9:
Let me hear what God the Lord will speak,
for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints;
but let them not turn back to folly.
Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him,a
that glory may dwell in our land.
This Sunday, like every Sunday that we gather as a church, God is calling us to sit attentively at his feet and be transformed by what he says to us through his word. This Psalm calls us to worship God by not just hearing, but also following and obeying what he calls us to do. God promises that as we are transformed by his word we will experience the goodness and glory of the Lord in our lives. Let’s gather ready to listen and obey because it is God’s very best for us!
Pray that God would guide our hearts to humbly listen and obey him.
Pray that we will hear the “peace” that God speaks to his people this Sunday.
Here are the songs we are singing this week. We chose these songs because they call us to trust and obey Jesus and to rejoice in his goodness.
