AUGUST 9, 2017
"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.
This week we are looking at Acts 25:1–26:32 and seeing how we can live as faithful witnesses to the gospel.
Our Call to Worship is Psalm 25:8-10.
Good and upright is the Lord;
therefore he instructs sinners in the way.
He leads the humble in what is right,
and teaches the humble his way.
All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness,
for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.
Every Sunday when we gather under the word of God we get to experience the goodness of the Lord as we hear the good news of the gospel. Psalm 25 describes what our reaction to experiencing God’s goodness should be: humility. This humility is characterized by a hunger to learn and obey the way of Jesus. The amazing thing about this is that God promises that as we follow the paths that he is teaching us we get to experience even more and more of the love and faithfulness of God. This is why we gather together on Sunday to grow in our love and obedience to the way of Jesus. Let’s gather ready to experience God’s love and grow in following the way of Jesus!
Pray that God would humble our hearts before him so that we can receive the good he has for us.
Pray that we would be faithful gospel witnesses.
Here are the songs we are singing this week. We chose these songs because they help us rejoice in the faithfulness of God.
