SEPTEMBER 13, 2017
"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.
This week we are looking at Judges 3:12-31 and seeing how reverence for God results in a life of integrity approved by God.
Our Call to Worship is Isaiah 50:4b-5.
Morning by morning he awakens;
he awakens my ear
to hear as those who are taught.
The Lord God has opened my ear,
and I was not rebellious;
I turned not backward.
Isaiah tells us that everyday God is awakening, enabling us to hear the truth of God. What does it look like to be awakened to the truth of God? It means that if we have really encountered the truth of the gospel, we look different. We walk in obedience because we see the emptiness of rebellion and the fullness of obedience. Let’s gather ready to be taught by God’s word and to respond with faithfulness this Sunday. Let’s gather awakened by the truth of God eager to grow in his gospel.
Read Isaiah 50:4b-5 and:
Praise God that he graciously awakens us to his truth.
Pray that we would hear and obey, walking faithfully in the truth of the gospel.
Here are the songs we are singing this week. We chose these songs because they call us to gospel-fueled obedience.
Here is last week's sermon in case you missed it.
