SEPTEMBER 27, 2017
"Getting Ready for Sunday" is a resource we provide to help the church look ahead to the upcoming Sunday. We want to prepare well for gathering together by reading God’s word, praying, and singing.
This week we are looking at Judges 5:1-31, and seeing that we should strive to participate in what God is doing, because he fights for his people, empowers us and keeps us in his blessing as we walk in obedience.
Our Call to Worship is Ephesians 2:4-5.
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love
with which he loved us,
even when we were dead in our trespasses,
made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved.
As Christians, we are people who were once dead, but are now alive. We had been conquered and destroyed by the effects of sin, but God in his great mercy chose to make us alive through the death and resurrection of Christ. When we gather as a church we are given the chance to rejoice in this deep truth; we are creatures of grace, no longer dead and separated from God, but made alive and loved by God. Let’s gather this Sunday ready to celebrate and grow in the truth of what God has done.
Praise God that he has given us life in Christ.
Pray that we would cling tightly to the truth that God has saved us through his grace.
Here are the songs we are singing this week. We chose these songs because they center us in the gospel, and call us to follow God in his mission for creation.
